For some of us, the giving of gifts is not a financial affair. The greatest gifts are those that cost the giver a part of himself — a wish, an idea, a dream.
The age-old tradition of giving presents is never more apparent than at Christmas. Piggy Banks are broken and secret hoards are robbed as people spend those special savings on gifts for loved ones.
What about the poet who wishes to share his poems . . . or the writer yearning to display his prose? These people have beautiful gifts to give us . . .
Texarkana College once offered a showcase for campus literary talent. But the TC Kaleidoscope will not be published this year due to a decision by the Student Senate last spring.
Why? Writers, poets, photographers, and artists want to share parts of themselves with us through their talents. Should we deny them a chance to showcase their work? Should we refuse the gifts they offer?
