‘Amahl and the Night Visitors’

Thirty biblical costumes in prints, plaids, stripes and solids in contrasting shades of green, red, yellow and pink have been designed and sewn by Mrs. Keyton, Miss Patsy Rankin, Phyllis Hodgeson and Nancy Bolt. The dramatic action of the opera is based on the legend of the Three Kings and Amahl, a 12-year-old crippled boy living with his widowed mother in an impoverished home. Amahl is gazing through the window at a guiding star when the play begins. After Amahl and his mother go to bed, there is knocking at their door. The visitors are the Three Wise Men and their Page.
