Stewart Angel, TCC Mathematics professor, defeated Coach Hub Dungan 6-1, 7-5, to win the “A” division singles championship of the Faculty Tennis Club last week.
Dungan had advanced to the finals by virtue of his defeat of Coach Robert Mills, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4, in the quarter finals. Angel had defeated TCC President Carl Nelson in the quarter finals, 6-2, 6-3.
The “A” division doubles championship will be played this week between the team of Dr. Carl Nelson and Miss Norma Nelson, and Coach Robert Mills and Student Center Director Benny Cox.
The doubles tournament is a double elimination affair, meaning that a team must be beaten twice before they are out of the competition. Nelson-Nelson are undefeated while Mills-Cox have been defeated once.
