“Shepherd’s Song” will be presented at the Sanctuary of Trinity Presbyterian Church Friday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m.
This sacred musical is an adaptation of the “Second Shepherd’s play.” In the story, the shepherds on the hillside of Bethlehem are represented as persons with genuine concern. The Christmas Story is depicted as the force changing attitudes from one of care and despondency to one of joy among all people.
The cast includes: Speaker, Mark Putman; Coll, (a shepherd) Virgil Hays; Gib, (a shepherd) Robert McGary; Dave, (the young shepherd) James Michael.
Mak, (the local ne’er do well) will be played by Stacy Melton. Gill, (Mak’s wife) will be played by Susan Williams. Children of Mak and Gill will be played by Michael Benson (Hal); Elizabeth Ann Benson (Nan); Suzanne Sizemore, (Moll); and Ralph Sizemore, (Jeff). Neighbor Woman will be played by Libby Smith; Roman Soldier will be played by Bill Barlow. Innkeeper’s Wife will be played by Vanessa Gore; Simon Magus will be played by James Davis. Joseph will be played by Wallace Hines.
The chorus a most essential part of the performance will be made up of the members of the College Choir.
The organist will be Dr. Murray Alewine and the percussionists will be Samuel Whitaker and Shawn Walker.
