College Teacher Will Give $2,000 Summer to Each Seminar Participant

Grants for 106 Summer Seminars for College Teachers have been awarded by the National Endowment for the Humanities to institutions in 28 states. This program provides opportunities for college faculty in undergraduate and two-year colleges to work in their areas of interest under the direction of a distinguished scholar. The 1977 summer program will include 1,272 college teachers from all parts of the United States and its territories. Participants will be selected on the basis of national competition to attend the seminars of their choice with a stipend of $2,000 to each seminar participant.

Summer seminars will be offered in 24 disciplines covering broad areas of humanities studies including history, literature, language and linguistics, political science, philosophy, and the social sciences. The Summer Seminars for College Teachers program is directed by the National Endowment for the Humanities’ Division of Fellowships. The individual participants selected for the seminars program will be announced in April 1977. A study in American History will be offered in Fayetteville and two political science courses will be offered in Austin for this area.
