
Connie Barkley, Miss Texarkana College 1969–70, was crowned Saturday night during the annual Miss TC Beauty Pageant, in the college auditorium.
Connie, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John L. Barkley, Texarkana, Texas, danced to the tune of “Crooked Little Man” in the talent competition of the Pageant. She will be eligible to enter the Miss Texarkana Pageant as Miss Texarkana College, this year.
First runner-up, winner of the Miss Congeniality and judges’ special award for talent, was Miss Peggy Stewart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Stewart of Texarkana.
Second runner-up was Kathy Austin, of Hooks, with the remaining finalists being Linda Morrow, and Cyndi Pound, both of Texarkana.
Julie Ables, Barbara Brewer, Melissa Claussen, La Honda Ellis, and Debi McCulloch also participated as contestants in the Miss TC Pageant.
Mrs. Billie Waters Wood of DeKalb, a former Miss Texarkana, served as mistress of ceremonies. Judges for the pageant were Mr. & Mrs. Ray Edwards, George Dobson, and Mrs. Ruth Clements. Pageant director was Miss Paula Jones, a former Miss Texarkana who is a student at Texarkana College. She was assisted by Todd Brown, president of the TC Student Senate.
