Drama Department Takes Major Step Forward As Inspector Recommends College for Membership in Texas Association

Texarkana Community College’s drama department was accepted as a qualified member of the Texas Educational Theater Association this week after being inspected by Bob Cook, head of the drama department at Baylor University.

Most major universities and only about half a dozen junior colleges are qualified members of the Texas Educational Theater Association. Joel Cash, director of Drama at TCC, compared it to the “Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval.” Being accepted into this Association means that TCC drama courses are top notch and will transfer to all major universities and bring in many more serious drama students.

Cash explained that Cook inspected the courses, the theater, the library material available on drama-related subjects and standards here at TCC. He was greatly impressed with the Stilwell Theater and the library material, Cash reported.

“Needless to say the drama department is very pleased and I am happy with good facilities, good students, and great parent and community cooperation,” the drama instructor said.
