Bike Hike
Students at Eastfield College, Dallas, have bicycles available for intra-campus transportation or for physical exercise. There is no rental fee. Students present ID cards and are given a bicycle.
Stair-Gazing
Many women students at Del Mar College, Corpus Christi, have been having a problem with stair-gazers, male students who make it a habit of sitting beneath stairs. One woman student wrote a letter to the editor of the campus paper, prompting the Del Mar administration to do nothing.
The next step was taken by an unknown women’s libber who placed a sign at the top of the stairs warning the women to proceed at their own risk. This was successful for a time, but an anti-libber told the director of student activities that the sign was not regulation size, so it was removed.
Austin Armadillos?
University of Texas at Austin is facing a serious problem with their Student Senate. On Nov. 2 the Senate at UT unanimously passed a resolution to change the mascot of the University from the Longhorn to the Armadillo.
A poll by the Daily Texan, UT’s campus newspaper, showed that many students were for the change. Some said that the armadillo represented Texas just as much as the Longhorn. One student said, “…they’re all over the highways, too.”
