The big event during the Christmas season at Texarkana College will be the Snow Ball set for Dec. 6. This annual dance sponsored by the Student Senate will be headlined this year by top entertainment — John Fred and His Playboy Band.

John Fred and his group have been the biggest hit Baton Rouge, La. has introduced into the National-International field of contemporary “popular” music in the last year.

Last year the group’s hit single “Judy in Disguise (With Glasses)” skyrocketed to the number one spot in the nation selling over a phenomenal three million 45 R.P.M. singles throughout the world.

On a regional basis the group had always enjoyed a fantastic reputation; but after “Judy’s” success they became one of the most sought after rock groups not only in the United States but also in Europe and most other parts of the world where their song was number one.

Several tours were set up for the group throughout the United States and Canada. They played in ten European countries including Germany, England, Ireland, Scotland, Sweden and others. TV shows in England with Donovan and discussing problems of the music industry with Paul McCartney of the Beatles were among the excitements of Great Britain.

The followup to “Judy” was “Hey Hey Bunny.” TV appearances for the group included Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show, American Bandstand, Paul Revere’s Happening ’68.

One of their newest releases is “Sometimes You Just Can’t Win.”

The Ball will be a formal event in the Student Center Ballroom from 8-12; admission tickets will be $3 per couple.
