Basketball action got underway with a real thriller. The Globe-Walkers defeated the Rangers by a margin of 64-59.
Rickey Smith led the Globe walkers to victory by sacking 18 points. Bill Boyd and Tony McKeil were also in the double figures with 12 and 10 points respectively.
Coming out strong for the Rangers, but to no avail, was the sharp shooting of David Hamilton with 19 points. Neal Kirkland with 10 points was the only other Ranger player to reach the double figures.
