Holiday Season Festivity Hints

‘Tis the season to be jolly, merry, happy and joyous. Most people feel that the easiest way to achieve this goal is to have a party, food, fun, fellowship, beverages, whatever suits your lifestyle best. In every party situation, there are many things that can happen and the responsibility for maintaining the general welfare is usually placed upon the host or hostess. Here are a few suggestions to help keep your party running smoothly.

If alcoholic beverages are to be served, make sure that your supply is well endowed in that a “liquor-run” will not have to be made in the middle of the festivities. A good preventive measure is to suggest that the party is a B.Y.O.B. party – Bring Your Own Bottled – but have a generous supply on hand for when things get a little dry. Near the door or entry way, place a large fish bowl or empty terrarium and request that your guests leave their keys to their cars in the bowl. If they can’t find their keys when it comes time to leave, they are generally sober enough to make it safely home. If not, be prepared to either drive them home or provide a place for them to sleep. This will also cut down on the amount of work the police and other law enforcement officers will have to do.

During the party, people will usually get the “Munchies” and a few of the more favorable items to serve are cheese and crackers, chips, assorted nuts, little sausages and other various hors d’oeuvers. If you happen to run out, let your guests ravage through the cabinets and leave a donation plate by the door to replenish your stock of twinkies, Cap’n Crunch, pork ‘n beans and natural brouves.

Remember that your party is not the only thing happening and that a few people around your place of abode may be trying to sleep and may get offended if you make too much noise. They have the right to call the police and that is the surest way to blow a good party. Keep all things in consideration and have a great time.
