TC’s fall concert, sponsored by the student senate, is tomorrow night at 8 p.m. Rick Nelson and his Stone Canyon Band, making their repeating debut this year, is possibly the musical entertainment group of the year, according to many record reviews, press releases and critics.

Nelson, during the early portion of 1972, was looked upon as merely another former hit the parade trying to make his way back to the top. There weren’t too many people who had much faith in him, mainly it was very difficult to believe he lark the showmanship impact after practically hiding in seclusion for over ten years.

That was also a reaction to an insane crowd at Madison Square Garden last year, when Nelson appeared at a 50’s rock and roll revival. Nelson then wrote a real truthful song and poured revolt. Nelson’s own personal reaction to the boos he received inspired him to write his first hit single in three years, “Garden Party”.

He went to the “Garden” to play his old songs, but he was not dressed as he was during the late fifties. In his song, Nelson sings, “I played all the old songs. they all thought that was why I came, but no one recognized me. I didn’t look the same.”

“Garden Party” speaks for itself in its intended meaning. The song speaks for many other musicians and their feelings as they have many of the hardships in trying to make a comeback as did Nelson.
