The TCC student senate, in its last meeting of the semester, decided to hold off until next year its selections to fill absent senate seats.
Meeting in the Student Center, President Christy Elkins told the group that she had decided not to appoint people to fill the vacant slots (one of which has been empty since this semester’s elections) and proposed an election be held to choose the members to the absent post at the beginning of the Spring, 1976 semester.
Holding this election would be against the group’s constitution, which states that all vacancies would be filled by presidential appointment. The matter was not resolved at the meeting.
The Senate then touched on Saturday night’s Snowball Dance, reminding the members that a $2 charge per couple will be assessed at the formal affair, and that the dance would begin at 8 p.m.
Christy urged all students to try and make it to the dance, adding, “If enough money is made, we will be able to have a spring Sadie Hawkins Dance,” which had been suggested by another member earlier in the year.
In other business, the Senate:
- Decided to have the student opinion poll ballots placed in booths which will be set up around the campus on Monday and Tuesday of next week. As it is Dead Week, the booths will have to be unmanned, but all students are urged to go by and fill out the interest survey.
- Heard a request from Joy Houck’s Theatre’s (Cinema City, Joy’s Twin Drive-In) representative to start a movie club on campus. By paying a $2 fee, members would be able to attend movies on Monday-Friday, excluding Roadshow attractions for the reduced price of $1.
- Discussed student feelings toward the compulsory attendance policy which will take effect on the campus next semester.
