Anyone who is undecided about their sophomore English class should consider Selected Studies in Literature: English 237.
Selected Studies is the newest literature course on campus. The course consists primarily of a study of prose writing of the more recent authors. This course will offer a broader sampling of literature than any literature survey course because it includes American, British, and Continental writers.
According to Sharon Drake, instructor, the course is a little more informal than other sophomores literature courses because the class is usually smaller, which allows an easier exchange of ideas.
Selected Studies was originally designed for students whose programs only required a total of nine hours of English; however, it will count as a sophomore English credit to be transferred also. The only requirement for taking the course is satisfactory completion of both semesters of Freshman English 131 and 132.
Anyone interested that would like to know more about the course should call Mrs. Drake at Ext. 361 or go by her office in the Language Arts Building Room 17.
