Popular music was the theme for a Stage Band concert at Ashdown High School Tuesday morning.
Many songs on the program featured soloists or sections of instruments. A number called “Spooky” was highlighted by the flute section. Phyllis Mitchell played a saxophone solo in “We’ve Only Just Begun” by the Carpenters.
Dwight Drake sang “Shake” by Tom Jones. Debbie Burgess danced to the music of “Charleston.” Tommy Jones played a trumpett solo in “Put Your Hand In the Hand.”
A similar concert was played Nov. 24 in Maud High School.
Dr. J. W. Cady, president of the college, commended the band recently in an informal talk during their rehearsal.
