TCC Music Department Prepares For Christmas

Yvette Najarro, Ken Hill, and Maurice Johnson rehearse for “The Perfect Wife”, to be performed at the Trinity Presbyterian Church tonight.

The TCC music department has a full slate of events scheduled for the month of December, including a television show that will be aired some time around Christmas.

The department began their activities as the TCC Choir presented a Christmas carol program in Central Mall yesterday. The program is scheduled to be repeated today in the TCC Student Center, with the TCC concert band accompanying the singers. “Refreshments will be served at the concert in the student center,” said stage band director Sandy Simmons, “and there will be an opportunity for audience participation.”

The TCC Singers and brass ensemble will perform at the First Baptist Church of Texarkana on Sunday, and the singers will present a program at the State First National Bank at noon the following Monday.

After the bank performance, the choir and concert bank will begin taping a program in the ETSU-T television center to be aired “sometime around Christmas on channel Five,” said Dr. Murray Alewine, director of the TCC Singers.

“The Choir meets for three hours a week, just like any other class,” Alewine said. “Anyone who has had singing experience in high school or church, or anyone who thinks that they might like to try any facet of the Music Department, is invited to come by the music building for an audition.”

Members of the TCC choir are Patricia Bunn, Keith Higgens, Ronald Watson, Ricky Barnett, Loyce Copeland, Marsha Day, Michael Dukes, Sharon Harlston, Marjorie Hill, Mildred Hunter, Maurice Johnson, Dianne Moffatt, Yvette Najarro, Theresa Pounds, Randy Rodgers, Nancy Walton, Redona Williams, Lester Windsor, Sarah Rodgers, Vickie Walker, Alan Akwine, Beth Ann Myers, Carolyn Larce, Debra Bardwell, Richard Cobb, Bruce Roberson, John Turner, and Glenda Walker.
