“I Pledge Allegiance . . .” how often have we said these words, and how often have we meant them or even listened to what we were saying?

Too many times it has been just “the thing to do.” We are taking our citizenship for granted; we never really think of how valuable it is.

The requirements that a foreigner has to meet to become a United States citizen are rigid. Citizenship is not an easy thing to obtain, and for a good reason. Not just anyone should be allowed citizenship in the United States. Should we not, therefore, accept and live up to the responsibilities that go along with the honor of being a part of the government?

It has been pointed out that aliens show more respect toward our government than we do. We should set the example, and be proud to live in “The Land of The Free.”
