Action-Packed Play Galore On Intramural Sports Scene

Circle B pulled in another victory in their first outing from the Rounder’s and Men’s Intramural Football League. In a close game, Circle B edged out Photoshop. A sudden change in the weather made the final score Rounder’s 6 and Photoshop 0. Next week should be another week of exciting gridiron events.

In other action, the Bud Buddies battled the Soul Rockers in a heated game. The Soul Rockers pulled out the victory after utilizing their speed and passing attacks. The Bud Buddies relied mostly on power and strength, but their running attack lacked consistent gains. The final score showed the Soul Rockers to be victorious in a close game. In other power play, in-action, the Charles Harder quarterbacked Bud Buddies completed a long pass for a 60-yard touchdown. However, that was the only score for the Bud Buddies. The final score was Soul Rockers 12 and Bud Buddies 6.

Mark Robertson’s Haz-Beens were rolled over by the Dirty Dozen. The Haz-Beens lost their first game in a one-sided reverse by Randy Williams’ Dirty Dozen. Williams, with Danny Hancock connected with a long pass for a touchdown. It was the first touchdown pass allowed to the Haz-Beens all year. In the late period, the Haz-Beens’ running back, Harmon Hays, fumbled the pass play. Final score: Dirty Dozen 12, Haz-Beens 0.

The five remaining games in this double elimination game will prove to be the meet tough, tough with the winning teams receiving trophies.

Co-Ed Volleyball

Close competition accented the girls’ Round Robin Volleyball tournament with the Starflights coming out as the winners. The Starflights were undefeated in their three games played. In a close, but well-played game, the Starflights won over the “Girls of Paris, Texas”. Kathy Cowser and Kathy Johnson sparked the Starflights to the victory. The trophies were presented to the winning team by Wayne Williams, Intramural Director.

Trying for second place were the Millerettes and Paris Mini-Maids. The second place went to the Paris Mini-Maids. Linda Ann Davis, Teresa Lester, and Linda Kennedy led the Paris Mini-Maids. The Millerettes, led by Wanda Fort, Rosie Smith, Martha Williams, and Brenda Elder, Chaddick, and Dennis Fikes.

Men’s volleyball will be organized in the near future. All men are urged to start organizing now.

Badminton

Harold Smith still holds 39 games behind him, still holds big lead among the other guys in the men’s badminton tournament. This week could be a slow week as only three games were left to play. This sounds like a sure win for Harold Smith. The Round Robin tournament has been going for over a period of two activity periods.

A.A. Referees Thanked

A big special thanks and commendation goes out to all of those students who have acted as referees in the various intramural activities. All the referees come from Mr. Wayne Williams’ Intramural class. These students have excelled in their officiating skills and have contributed a great deal to the intramural program.
