Beauty Pageant On Stage Tuesday

“A pretty girl is like a melody…”

Nineteen pretty girls will grace the stage next Tuesday morning as the annual Miss Bulldog Beauty Pageant gets underway at 9:30 in the auditorium.

This year’s presentation of the contestants will be in the form of a style show sponsored by Youngland Fashions. After the pretty misses model one daytime ensemble, they will appear on stage in an evening formal.

Students will vote on the top five beauties at the close of the presentation.

Mrs. Mildred Parsons, drama coach, is in charge of the program and Mr. James Parsons, biology and TC Television director, will be the master of ceremonies.

Nominees and their sponsoring clubs are Susan Arnold, Phi Theta Kappa; Glenda Boggs, B.S.U.; Maria Elena Bowles, Spanish Club; Sandra Copeland, Young Democrats; Shirley De Loach, Tee Cees; and Susan Donaldson, Bulldog.

Julie Goff, Blue Jackets; Sherill Hays, Texas Student Nurses Association; Margie Hutton, Le Cercle Francais; Janet Lynch, TSEA; Patti Moore, Circle K; and Connie Owens, choir; are also candidates for the title.

Other nominees include Pamela Reid, Science Club; Diane Shackelford, Wesley Foundation; Brenda Sorsby, T.C. Players; Carol Trigg, English Club; Sharon Walker, Student Senate; Dona Timmons, Girls’ Dorm; and Kathie Yocom, Samothrace.

The pictures of the five finalists will be sent to a leading stage or screen star for final judging. Mr. Andy Williams, the staff’s first choice, sent his best regards to all the contestants but declined to be a judge.

“I am honored to have been chosen as judge,” Mr. Williams wrote Editor Goff, “but this would mean eliminating the other hopeful contestants and I just cannot bring myself to be responsible for any young person’s disappointment.”

Students and faculty members are invited to the Tuesday assembly to view the Texarkana College beauties and then select the top five.
