The Chaparrals, a quarterfinalist team in the recent intramural flag football tournament, led selections to the Intramural All-Star team which met the Circle K Thursday, Nov. 9.
Five players headed by pass catching end Mike Lay represented the Chaparrals in the All-Star game. In addition to Lay, who topped all players in the number of votes received, the Chaparrals, a quarterfinalist, Dale Meadows, Rodney Grigson and James Walker.
The Whiz Kids, Roadrunners, and runner-up Dirty Dozen each placed three players on the team, while the Wolverines and Bulldogs each placed two, and the Bearcats one.
The Cobras and New Boston failed to place a man on the all-star team.
Representing the Whiz Kids were Brian Shiffer, Randy Whitmore and giant Dike Dillman. Lutian Murphy, who was second to Lay in the number of votes received, Dale Dugan and Jerry Cook represented the Roadrunners.
Former Texas High star Mike Park, Phil Bocox and Jeff Taylor represented the Dirty Dozen, who were beaten 14-0 by Circle K in the title game.
The Wolverines were represented by Stanley Easter and hard charging lineman Thearldis Cooksey, while Ronald Ross and James Wright were chosen from the Bulldogs.
Long throwing quarterback Bobby King was the lone representative from the Bearcats.
Walker, Taylor and Dillman were the only repeaters from last year’s team, which defeated champion Circle K 12-0.
