Through the efforts of the Blue Jackets and Circle K, both student organizations at Texarkana College, the mental retardation fund has gained almost $350.
During the drive from Nov. 12 through 18 the Blue Jackets solicited money from passers-by on the streets of downtown Texarkana and gathered $95 for the fund.
The Circle K enlisted a local citizen through his son, Chris Buettner, a Circle K member, for the use of his A&W Root Beer stand on State Line. The club operated the stand on Thanksgiving and donated the proceeds to the mental retardation fund. Total Circle K contribution was $250.
Mr. O. Paul Smith, campaign chairman of the fund drive this year, extended thanks to the clubs.
