As a conclusion to their study of money and banking Mr. Gantt’s Economics class toured the Texarkana National Bank Friday morning, Nov. 30. The tours were conducted by Mr. Edward Johnson and Mr. John McCaskill, assistant vice-presidents. The class was directed through the bank and were shown the various operations of banking. This included a visit to the Accounting Department, where the books are kept; the Transit Department, where the checks are received from and sent to other banks; the Safety Deposit Department; and the vault, where the students were allowed to hold a 10,000 dollar bill. In each department the functions and equipment used were explained to the students.
After having been shown through the bank, the students were taken to the Directors Room, where Mr. William G. Fuller, President of the bank, and a former TC student, answered questions covering banking policies and operations. As the students left the room they were presented a booklet called “Banking Services for You,” which explains the services of commercial banks to their customers. The bank also presented each student a ball point pen with its compliments.
