Mr. George G. Duca of New York City, Executive Director of the Federation of French Alliances, visited the TC campus Thursday and Friday, Dec. 10-11, as a guest of the French Club, Le Cercle Francais.

A luncheon honoring Mr. Duca was attended by members of the club, several members of the college faculty, and some instructors in French from local schools.

Introduced by John Pearson, president of Le Cercle Francais, Mr. Duca, world traveler, former member of the diplomatic service, and once a charge d’affaires in Finland, spoke to the group on the influence of French culture and the French language. “The facets of the French language have been so manifold,” said Mr. Duca, “that French culture has made a tremendous impact on the world.”

Mr. Duca spoke very highly of Mrs. Betty Carter as a teacher of French, and said that Texarkana College will be one of eight colleges from which a student will be selected for a Federation scholarship to study next year in Paris.
