From Beauty Pageant: Finalists to Vie For Miss Bulldog

Finalists, from L to R: Maria Elena Bowles, Shirley DeLoach, Sherril Hays, Patti Moore, Kathie Yocom

Dean Martin will have a hard time choosing Miss Bulldog.

The star of screen and television has been asked to select the top beauty from these five finalists: Maria Elena Chavez-Bowles, Shirley DeLoach, Sherill Hays, Patti Moore and Kathie Yocom.

Students selected the girls from the 19 contestants in the Miss Bulldog Beauty Pageant held Nov. 21.

This year’s pageant, a combination style show and evening gown presentation, was narrated by Mr. and Mrs. James Parsons. Escorts for the contestants were members of Circle K. Fashions, ranging from daytime shifts to formal evening pants ensembles, were supplied by Youngland’s Fashions, 1721 New Boston Road.

Mr. Parsons was master of ceremonies and Mrs. Parsons coordinated the show and described the fashions the girls modeled.

Miss Chavez-Bowles, a freshman from La Paz, Bolivia, is sponsored by the Spanish Club. Another freshman, the reigning Miss Texarkana, Miss DeLoach is Tee Cee’s entry.

An Athens freshman Miss Hays, sponsored by the Texas Student Nurses Association. Circle K sponsored sophomore Miss Moore and the business students’ organization Samothrace picked Miss Yocom, also a sophomore, for their entry. Both are Texarkana residents.

All 19 girls were presented with a small charm engraved “TC Beauty, 1967,” a gift of the Bulldog staff.

Miss Bulldog will be announced at the Presentation Ball next semester.
