Two members of the Texarkana College history faculty, Robert Williams and Lewis Cabaniss, have been asked by the Texas State Historical Association to write an article on the Texarkana area for the “Handbook of Texas”.
Joe B. Frantz, association director, wrote, “As a reflection of Texas’ growing urbanization, we plan to include an article on each of the standard metropolitan statistical areas in the Texas.”
Williams and Cabaniss have agreed to cover the assigned materials for Texarkana and to compile information to be included as a supplement to the “Handbook of Tex” based on selected areas will be published afterwards in the names of the contributors.
The 1952 edition of the “Handbook of Texas” will be available in the Texarkana College library.
