Circle K showed their strength as they captured the Intramural Football Championship last week. They rolled over the Headhunters by the score of 27-19. Quarterback Willard Simmons led his team by running and passing their way to the crown.
The Headhunters jumped to an early 7-0 lead when Darrel Fincher ran for the score. He also added the extra point. Circle K rallied with a pass to Nick Williamson which set them up on the Headhunters’ 20 yard line. Simmons then spotted John Rainey in the end zone for the TD. Simmons added the extra point with a run around end.
After a short half time rest, Fincher took the kickoff and ran 80 yards for the touchdown. The extra point failed. Circle K dominated the rest of the game. After a long drive, Bob Minton scored on a fullback run up the middle. Minton then connected with Simmons for the point after. The Headhunters couldn’t spark and had to kick on their first set of downs. Circle K marched steadily toward the goal. Minton lofted the ball and Simmons cradled it in for the final score of the game.
Cross Country Run
In the cross country run, Carol Knight outlasted the pack by taking the victory by a wide margin. Other finishers found Jeff Wright panting for a second place finish. Michael Koschke ran to a third place finish.
