Phi Theta Kappa Initiates Five

Wanda Brown, Barbara Groves, Sandra Hill, Tomye Power, and Howard Shirk were initiated into the Zeta Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Nov. 17.

The initiation ceremony, supervised by club sponsor James H. Bennett and conducted by Ronnie Evans, club president, was held in the Student Center. Arthur Ratliff, vice-president, and Donna Arrington, secretary, assisted with the service.

After the initiation, all members sang the official club song, accompanied by Glenda Jones at the piano. Joy Gardner gave a brief history of the chapter, which was organized by Miss Edith Larson in 1949.

Mrs. Lucille Elgin, guest speaker, reviewed “Letters from the Peace Corps,” by Iris Luce.

Phi Theta Kappa is the international junior college scholastic honor society. Members must maintain a 2.3 grade point average, and only five percent of the entire student body is permitted to join.
