Regents Appoint Norman Russell

Mr. Norman Russell, local attorney, was appointed last week to fill the vacancy created by the recent resignation of Mr. Burnham B. Jones from the TC Board of Regents.

A government and history major, Mr. Russell graduated from East Texas State College with B.A. and M.A. degrees. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Texas Law School.

From 1941 to 1946 Mr. Russell saw extensive service with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was active in Boston, Memphis, Baltimore and Atlanta.

Beginning his active law practice in Texarkana in 1946, Mr. Russell was City Attorney of Texarkana, Texas from 1947 to 1953. From 1961 to 1964 he was Director of the State Bar of Texas from the First Congressional District. He has served on various committees of the Texas Bar Association.

Mr. Russell is associated with the law firm of Atchley, Russell, Hutchinson and Waldrop of Texarkana.
