Dr. W. G. McAlexander, dean of Texarkana College, addressed the Texarkana League of Nursing at their meeting at St. Michael Hospital Thursday.
His topic was “Some of the Things Happening in General Education.” His talk included information on methods of teaching as well as comments on federal funds available for use in public educational institutions.
Dr. McAlexander, who came to Texarkana College in June 1965, is a native of McKinney, Texas. He received his B. A. and M. A. degrees from North Texas State and his doctorate from the University of Houston. Prior to coming to Texarkana College, he served as dean of students and registrar at Wharton Junior College.
The Texarkana League of Nursing is open to all persons interested in nursing, and its membership is not restricted to nurses. The major concern of the League at this time is the shortage of qualified nurses in this area.
Persons who are interested in joining may contact Mrs. Carolyn Gooch, president of the Texarkana League, Mrs. Elizabeth Willis, membership chairman, or Mrs. Lillian Keith, Texarkana College.
