Ten Schools Represented At TC Journalism Workshop

More than 175 students and sponsors attended the Texarkana College Journalism Workshop for high schools of this area November 18.

The workshop, held in the Ballroom of the Student Center, attracted students from Texas High; Arkansas High; Washington High; Avery, Texas; Hooks, Texas; Lewisville, Ark.; Stamps, Ark.; Prescott, Ark.; Fouke, Ark.; and Dierks, Ark.

Richard T. Bentley, general manager of the Palmer News Media Group, gave the featured address of the day at the workshop luncheon held in the Continental Room of the Center. His subject was “Futures in Journalism”.

The program began at 9:30 a.m. with a welcome by Dr. J. W. Cady, president of the College. Speakers on the program included Miss Peggy Simpson, Associated Press, Dallas; Mike Trimble, managing editor, Texarkana Gazette; Johnny Green, Gazette sports writer; Glen Hickman, editor of the KENNEL; Miss Pat Irwin, KENNEL business manager; and Bill Tidwell, KENNEL staff photographer.
