THE SPIRIT OF GIVING

by Duncan Conly and Rose Marie Holmes

How many times a year do you give someone a gift for no occasion? Do you ever give a gift just because you want to or does it have to be Christmas, a birthday, or a special event?

Most of us have to have a definite reason to give a gift, but we should try to acquire the desire and ability to give gifts just to be giving. At present we are all thinking about Christmas and the gifts we will give or receive. Here are a few suggestions for gifts for boys and girls:

BOYS: billfold, belt, tie, shirts, watch band, socks, handkerchiefs, pocket knife, cufflinks, scarf, tie rack, belt hanger, novelty key ring, personalized bookends, ash trays, cards, pen and pencil set.

GIRLS: cologne, jewelry, gloves, billfold, lip stick case, blouse, jewelry box, sweater, stationery, stuffed toys, manicure set, records, cufflinks, desk set.

As you can see, all of these are nice but inexpensive gifts. Many college students have many gifts to buy each year, and they want to give something nice but inexpensive. These gifts are ideal for friends, relatives, or anyone you wish to remember.

Whether it is Christmas, someone’s birthday, or just that feeling to give a gift, remember it’s not the price behind the gift but the feeling that counts. It is better to give than to receive!
